As Lead Pastor of DC Metro Church, Dr. David Stine is known for his practical biblical teaching, his visionary leadership, and his heart to impact the DC Metropolitan area. David’s authenticity and his ability to communicate the truth of God’s Word in a humorous, dynamic, and revelatory manner helps people understand the Bible and how to apply its teachings to their everyday lives. David is passionate about people coming to know Christ, getting planted in God’s house, and becoming transformational leaders who work together to build a God-first culture throughout the DC Metro area.
David and his wife Taryn have four children: Isaac who is 8, Josiah who is 7, Asher who is 3 and Karis (the Greek word for "grace") who is 1. David first met Taryn at Louisiana State University (Go Tigers!) where they both majored in Business and were involved in a campus ministry together. After graduation, they were advancing in their respective careers, but the deepest desire of their hearts was to "do something great for God" together. Incidentally, those five words "do something great for God" were the first words Taryn ever spoke to David at the college conference where they met when he asked her what she wanted to do with her life. Needless to say, David began to beg Jesus to let her say "yes" to go on a date with him. After several weeks of prayer and pursuit, Taryn did say "yes". In 2002, they were married and he is still happily pursuing her today.
Shortly after coming to Christ in college, David knew there was a call on his life to full-time ministry and sensed God leading him to seminary at Regent University, where he earned his Masters Degree (M.A.) in Practical Theology and his Doctoral Degree (D.Min) in Leadership. Before David and Taryn moved to DC, he was in full-time ministry for twelve years, including his most recent role as the Senior Associate Pastor at Celebration Church (a non-denominational church with 10,000 in weekly attendance) in Jacksonville, Florida. Taryn earned her Masters in Accounting (CPA) and worked in Corporate America for several years before coming on staff in the Women’s ministry at Celebration Church. She currently leads DC Sisterhood, where she is able to walk out her passion of helping women reach their full God potential in life.
David also oversees Plaid Churches, which is a network of churches cut from the same cloth that was created to help church leaders build God-first cultures in their cities. David is honored to be teaching, training, and coaching church leaders and future church planters because he strongly believes that the local church is the hope of the world and that we are meant to be relationally connected with other leaders.
David and Taryn are thoroughly enjoying raising their children and loving their call to full-time ministry. They believe nothing compares to the joy of experiencing the transformation in people’s lives as they choose the God-first life. David is incredibly honored to be the Lead Pastor of DC Metro and he and Taryn are extremely thankful to be living out their dream of getting to "do something great for God" together.
